Accomplishments

Dr. Buolamwini realized there was a problem with AI facial detection in college. She uncovered a racial and gendered bias in algorithms with facial detection. Since then she has created initiatives to create inclusive AI and publicly speak out against the bias in software. She created the Algorithmic Justice League and got big companies like IBM, Microsoft, Amazon, and more to stop using the flawed systems. Buolamwini has spread the word globally speaking at the World Economic Forum and the United Nations.
